Facebook's 2018 Algorithm Update

In the spirit of the new year, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, is changing Facebook’s algorithm (again) to show you more of the personal moments that spark connections with others.

What does this mean?

You’ll see less public content – posts from businesses, brands and media – and more posts from your friends and family.

Why now?

Zuckerberg’s inspiration came from research showing that when social media is used to connect with people we care about, it can be good for our well-being. This research also found that passive article reading and video watching isn’t so great for us.

Don’t take it personally; it’s the algorithm.

The algorithm works to reduce public content posts, which means your business may be subject to lower numbers when it comes to things like reach, engagement and overall page traffic.

Stay on budget.

Your advertising budget, small or large, will be crucial in ensuring your content is seen by your audience. It’s important to take a look at who you’re targeting and how to best use ad manager on Facebook.

It’s (still) all about content.

More than ever, Facebook users are looking for content that they enjoy provides benefits.  This means you have to create posts that make users want to follow you and see your content.
